1965 – Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2 Roadster

Extensive restoration carried out between 2017 and 2019 at Dominique Tessier’s workshops.

Unveiled in Geneva in 1961, the Type E was an instant success and was very quickly voted ‘the most beautiful car in the world’. In addition to its superb styling by Malcolm Sayer, it was its exceptional performance that made it a new benchmark for sportiness. Available as a coupé and roadster, it was initially marketed with a 3.8-litre six-cylinder engine, before being fitted in 1964 with a 4.2-litre engine producing 265 ch.

Ordered new in New York, our 4.2-litre roadster was probably delivered to its first owner directly from the Coventry factory. It was imported into France in 2006 by Mr Tessier and remained registered in Touraine until 2023, when the current owner acquired it.

Our example underwent a major restoration between 2017 and 2019 at Dominique Tessier’s workshops in Tours. The bodywork was repainted in its original Carmen Red colour. The interior has been refitted with new black leather upholstery and matching carpets, as well as a new soft top. The mechanical components have also undergone a complete restoration; it should be noted that the engine is not the original one.

Having covered approximately 6,000 km since its restoration, our Type E is in very good condition. It runs beautifully and is made easier to drive by electric power steering. It should be noted that the brake master cylinder was replaced prior to sale.

Restored in a renowned workshop and valued at €130,000 in 2023, this superb Type E is just waiting for its next owner to take to the road and turn every one of your trips into an exceptional experience.
