A historic racing car with a renowned and high-performance engine, ready to compete in historic racing!
The Lucchini SN89 is an Italian prototype developed by Lucchini Engineering in the late 1980s. It meets criteria for lightness, rigidity and controlled design and running costs. The SN89 was mainly used in hillclimb racing and in certain endurance events.
Technically, the SN89 is based on a tubular steel chassis, clad in a fibreglass body. The most common engine is an Alfa Romeo V6, generally with a capacity of 2.5 to 3.0 litres depending on regulations and tuning.
Our example was driven by Giampiero Consonni during the 1990 European Hillclimb Championship. This chassis also served as a test car for Fabio Magnani during the development of his SP91, with which he competed in the 1993 24 Hours of Le Mans.
This barquette features an SP91 configuration, meaning it is fitted with a 3.0-litre Busso V6 engine mated to a Hewland FT200 five-speed gearbox. Its lightweight Le Mans-style bodywork is fitted with headlights. Presented in good overall condition, it has undergone a service; note that the belts, water pump and clutch have been replaced.
Even today, it competes in historic races, where it is appreciated for its lively handling and relatively affordable running costs for a prototype. Offered at an attractive estimate, it is an opportunity not to be missed!
