Rare specification, in exceptional condition both visually and mechanically, with over €22,000 worth of recent invoices.
- Ordered new by the management of Mercedes-Benz AG, this 500 SL stands out for its particularly rare specification, combining an Anthracite Metallic body with an exceptional full ‘Pine Green’ interior, including matching upholstery, dashboard, door panels and carpets.
- Produced in 1990, it belongs to the first series of the R129, powered by the remarkable 326 ch M119 V8 engine. This generation, which lacks the electronically controlled suspension systems introduced later, is now regarded by many enthusiasts as the most refined and reliable.
- Purchased by its current owner in December 2021, over €22,000 worth of work has been carried out in recent years to ensure it is in impeccable condition, both in terms of appearance and performance. It has always been meticulously maintained, as evidenced by the numerous invoices included in the file. Always carried out within the Mercedes-Benz network and by a reputable specialist in this model, the mechanical servicing has focused on the engine, the refurbishment of the fuel and fuel supply systems, the brakes, the replacement of the tyres, followed by the complete overhaul of all the soft-top actuators and, more recently, the replacement of the radiator is notably among the main works carried out. Just before the sale, an oil change and the replacement of all fluids, as well as the replacement of the battery and the timing chain tensioner, were carried out, with the added bonus of a ceramic coating and a thorough cleaning of the interior and the hardtop at Msirius in the 78.
- Having been part of a major collection dedicated to the make in the Netherlands and spent many years at a second home in Spain, this example has a particularly clear service history. It naturally comes with its regularly stamped service history book, its original manuals, three sets of keys and a full set of on-board accessories (tool kit, first-aid kit and warning triangle).
- With an original mileage of approximately 145,000 km – the replacement of the instrument cluster at 80,000 km being recorded in its service booklet – this 500 SL is now
in a remarkable state of preservation and working order. Rarely has a first-generation R129 been so meticulously maintained, making this example a particularly attractive opportunity for enthusiasts of the brand with the star emblem.
