The film’s soundtrack features John Carpenter alongside metal musicians, including the thrash metal band Anthrax, Steve Vai, Buckethead, Elliot Easton and Robin Finck. This replica spear, inspired by the weapons used in the film, is signed by the members of Anthrax, who were closely involved with the soundtrack at the time.In the autumn of 2001, around the time of the film’s release, a wave of anthrax-laced letter bomb attacks swept across the United States between September and October, suddenly making the band’s name problematic in the media. The French distribution company reportedly then halted a competition offering this signed replica spear as a prize, effectively making it an extremely rare promotional item. In October 2001, Anthrax even briefly hinted at a possible name change to “Basket Full of Puppies”, before abandoning the idea, which underscores the highly unusual climate surrounding the film’s promotion.&nbsp;Against this unique backdrop surrounding Ghosts of Mars and the Carpenter/Anthrax collaboration, the spear was subsequently gifted to the film’s French press officer. Objet promotionnel pour la sortie du film de science-fiction horrifique de John Carpenter “Ghosts of Mars”, sorti en 2001 avec Jason Statham, Ice Cube et Pam Grier. La bande originale du film réunit John Carpenter entouré de musiciens de metal, dont le groupe de thrash Anthrax, Steve Vai, Buckethead, Elliot Easton ou encore Robin Finck. Cette lance factice, inspirée des armes utilisées dans le film, est signée par les membres d’Anthrax, alors étroitement associés à la B.O.À l’automne 2001, au moment de la sortie du film, survient aux États-Unis la vague d’attaques à la lettre piégée contaminée par le bacille du charbon (“anthrax” en anglais), entre septembre et octobre, ce qui rend soudainement le nom du groupe problématique dans les médias. La distribution française aurait alors interrompu un jeu-concours qui proposait de faire gagner cette lance factice dédicacée, devenant de fait un objet promotionnel rarissime. En octobre 2001, Anthrax a même brièvement communiqué sur un possible changement de nom en “Basket Full of Puppies”, avant d’y renoncer, ce qui souligne le climat très particulier entourant la promotion du film.&nbsp;Forte de ce contexte unique autour de Ghosts of Mars et de la collaboration Carpenter/Anthrax, la lance a ensuite été offerte à l’attaché de presse français du film.
