Shelby Mustang GT 350 – 1970 - Lot 54
Shelby Mustang GT 350 – 1970 French historic registration title The result of a collaboration between Caroll Shelby and Ford, this version is in fact an extension of the 1969 model; the cars are assembled by the subcontractor AO SMITH: only 789 examples of this version will be built, recognizable by its black stripes, fiberglass opening panels and fenders, and Thunderbird taillights. The Shelby presented in these pages is a true rarity under our skies. It was built at the end of 1969 and later put on the road in September 1970. Pastel Grey (original yellow), a very subtle grey-white, the interior is original red skai. Equipped with manual gearbox and original short axle. Imported from the USA by a leading specialist a few years ago, it had been fully restored beforehand. The engine was also rebuilt, retaining its original block. A famous TV show specializing in mechanical restoration took charge of the mission and did a fantastic job: the liner and pistons were new, and everything was checked. Officially, the engine’s power is increased to 290 hp, but specialists know that at the time, the manufacturer had lowered the power ratings on paper in order to satisfy the insurers; the V8 would develop more than 340 hp. Today, with a new engine and completely overhauled mechanics, this Mustang Shelby is ready to take to the road to the raucous sound of its mythical engine, all at an attractive price!
