Lanchester Ten Minibus – 1936
French historic registration title
SANS RÉSERVE
This unique Minibus is one of the rare Lanchester Ten models modified after the war on the initiative of Lawrence Mervyn Gibson, the inventor of automatic ticket punch machines for public transport.
Registered as “BDV 343”, he acquired it in 1941. At the time, the car was fitted with a Mulliner Saloon body, which was finally removed at the factory in 1947 to allow for a full chassis restoration.
A very light aluminum body was then crafted, freely inspired by the iconic London Routemaster LT buses. The vehicle can accommodate 7 passengers, some luggage, and its driver!
Equipped with a 1.4l engine producing 34 hp and a Wilson preselector gearbox, the car could reach 96 km/h (60 mph). At the time of our test drive, the vehicle had just received expert care from a specialized workshop to ensure proper operation.
Starting at the first turn of the key, this Minibus — now adorned in the colors of Relais & Châteaux — is an invitation to leisurely travel, sure to amuse its passengers and driver alike. Completely original, everything works perfectly!
