After the economic crisis of the 1970s, the Land Rover Serie III was out of date because of its fuel consumption... For the first time since its introduction, sales were in free fall! At the 1983 Geneva Motor Show, the answer came: the spartan Serie III disappeared in favour of the new 110, then 90 in 1984.
In addition to a redesigned front end, these new models featured new coil-sprung suspension, a 5-speed gearbox, front disc brakes and new engines. Our example is certainly in the most special trim of its time, being a 90 Soft-Top equipped with the 3.5-litre V8!
In 2022, more than €30,000 were invested in the complete restoration of this 90 by RRC Offroad. No stone was left unturned: complete paintwork in Arles Blue, bodywork modifications, wiring harness modifications, full upholstery modifications, with the addition of Recaro leather bucket seats, etc...
Today, the car is in perfect overall condition, and runs very well. Its 3.5-litre V8 block is topped by a 3.9-litre injection unit, making the whole unit even more powerful. The gearbox was recently overhauled by the current owner’s mechanics, and the steering box was changed to make this giant even easier to drive!
