Ford Mustang Coupé 289 Code A – 1966
French historic registration title
Sold without contrôle technique
On 17 April 1964, Ford, the world's second-largest carmaker, presented its Mustang in New York, reinventing the automobile with the first of the pony cars, a sporty coupé that was the antithesis of the big, heavy, massive cars that had been typical of American production until then.
The Mustang was available as a hard-top coupé or convertible, then as a fastback from 1965. On its first day on the market, the car sold 22,000 units: history was in the making!
The car we're presenting here was built in 1966 at Ford's San José plant in California. It was a hardtop coupé powered by a Code C engine, a 289 ci (4.7-litre) V8 with twin carburettors.
This car, part of an estate, has not been used for around 8 years. The engine is not blocked and will have to be restarted with all the usual precautions. The car appears to be complete with the exception of the wheel trims, and both the bodywork (repainted at an unknown time in Arcadian Blue, with traces of corrosion) and the interior (a few tears, in need of cleaning) are in used condition.
This is a car, in this beautiful blue/blue combination, for a young enthusiast who will be able to restore this elegant Mustang 289 to its former glory, for a reasonable budget.
