Citroën Traction 11 B – 1952

French registration title

A veritable icon in the collective memory, the history of what was commonly referred to as the ‘Traction Avant’ is forever marked by the Occupation, a period during which it was alternately the car of the Gestapo and the Resistance.
Following on from various versions, the 11 B was launched in 1937. Longer, wider and heavier than the 11 BL, this version, production of which ceased during the Second World War, was relaunched in March 1947.
In 1952, this spacious and comfortable car, albeit with a small boot, inherited a large, domed boot. This made it possible for families to travel with luggage that was not placed on a roof rack Although the Traction’s silhouette lost the fluidity of Bertoni’s design, it gained in practicality, which helped to revive interest in the saloon built on the Quai de Javel.
The car that illustrates these pages dates from the first vintage, with the convex trunk. It comes to us in original condition, having recently had a coat of paint applied. It drives well and is fitted with 4 Michelin tyres, which are in perfect condition and recently made. If you don’t already own a Traction, why not take a look at this very attractive car?
