Tapisserie d'Aubusson basse lisse, woven in polychrome wools on cotton warp, decorated with fowl and butterflies in a field of flowering shrubs, cartouche in Latin "Or je vous dis que pas même Salomon dans toute sa gloire ne fut paré comme l'un d'eux" (Evangile selon saint Matthieu 6, 29), on a red and taupe background.
Signatures in the weave of the artist and workshop. Bolduc.

NOTE 'L'Été' is the first known tapestry by
Dom Robert. The example we are presenting appears to be no. 11, woven in July 1950 by the Tabard workshop in Aubusson, from a cartoon by the artist dating from 1941.
PROVENANCE Acquired directly from the Tabard workshop in Aubusson in November 1951 by the previous owners.
Passed down to the current owner.
