marble. The peaceful face features closed
eyes closed, the mouth showing a smile
of bliss. She wears her hair in a ratepenade
(snowshoe) style. Around her neck is a collar.
On the back is a wrought-iron tenon.
France, 16th century, circa 1560.

Depth: 16 cm
(Fragment, visible missing parts)
This noble lady's headdress is entirely
characteristic of the high nobility as it was
during the reign of Kings Charles IX and
Henry III. The quality of the marble used - an
expensive and the prerogative of the great of the kingdom -
allows us to envisage an important patron
with a certain degree of certainty.
IMPORTANT From lot 275 onwards, the lots can only be viewed at our storage facility in Gennevilliers. Exhibition by appointment: +33 1 47 45 08 18
