Prometheus or Ephebe with Torch
Rare bronze figure of an ephebe standing
standing naked, wearing a knot of hair,
with strands of hair falling to the front of his torso.
With his left arm, he is leaning on a tree trunk
on which is a drapery, and with his left hand
holding a flaming torch,
his right arm raised above his head.
France, late 17th century,
early 18th century.

- Probably stolen on December 21, 1937
returned to the family on the 23rd to the widow
of the previous owner née Amparo, baronne Beyens
