On the reverse of The Return of the Prodigal Son is an ancient inscription Lucrina Fetti / pinxit.
Lucrina was directly inspired by her brother Domenico Fetti (1589-1624), whose compositions on the same theme, which served as examples for her, are now in the collections of the Gemäldegalerie in Dresden (inv. Gal.-Nr. 417 and inv. Gal.-Nr. 423).
