In-8, polished green-bronze demimarocco with corners, spine with 4 raised bands, author, title and date gilt, ornate caissons, gilt fillet on covers, gilt head, untrimmed, covers preserved [Durvand Pinard] (spine faded, 2 corners dull).
Deluxe edition published the year after the original by the same bookseller.
It is adorned with numerous woodcuts in the text and off-text and 8 off-text engravings, including the famous etching by Édouard Manet, "Les chats et les fleurs".
Enriched copy with an autograph bill signed by the painter Edouard
Manet (1832-1883), no place, no date, ½ page in-12: "Mon cher
Besserat please give me a little time so that I can devote my attention to drawing. Amitiés".
Bound by Louise Pinard, a pupil of her father Lucien Durvand, whom she succeeded.

PROVENANCE: small gilded embossed label, in the form of a shield, with figures of a sailboat and a cloud, on the corner of the upper flyleaf.
