In-folio, off-white morocco, smooth spine, mosaic decoration in shades of brown, red and burgundy, covering the spine and boards, where walking figures seem to stand out, cherry calf lining and endpapers, the counterspreads decorated with a series of mosaic morocco pieces evoking footsteps, gilt head, untrimmed, black soft polished chagrin folder, bearing the author's name mosaic in red on the spine, matching slipcase [Gomez].
First edition in French, translated from Chinese by Ho Ju. It is illustrated with 8 original copper-plate engravings by Dali, and two text plates in Chinese, one embossed, the other printed in red and black.
Limited edition of 229 copies bearing the painter's autograph signature: one of 20 copies on Japon nacré (no. 23, 3rd paper after 8 ex. on Chine), accompanied by a suite of engravings in black and another suite in sanguine. A pencil signature "Dali 1967", not guaranteed autograph, appears in the margin of one plate of the sanguine suite. The first plate of the volume is printed on unpeened japon paper.
Original binding by Ramon Gomez Herrera, signed with his stamp at the bottom of the upper cover.
