In-folio, sandy calf, smooth muted spine, large composition of various tinted and mosaicked leather pieces covering the spine and boards, with a face in the center whose mouth is formed by a heart in the middle of the spine, and various elements evoking the text (figure of a white rabbit on the upper board, teapot, crown, figures of trefoil, spade, heart and diamond, and a watch), coffee suede lining and endpapers, each flyleaf decorated with a mosaic figure in permeated gray and fawn (a narghile and 2 mushrooms), gilt head, untrimmed, fawn polished chagrin folder with mosaic title on spine, fawn suede and fawn polished chagrin slipcase [Gomez] (qq. rubbing to jacket and slipcase).
Illustrated with 13 compositions drawn and engraved by
Salvador Dali, printed in color: a copper-engraved frontispiece and 12 wood-engraved plates.
Limited edition of 2,700 copies, all bearing Dali's original signature in pencil on the title page and frontispiece: one of the 200 first copies, on Rives paper, forming the so-called "De luxe" edition (no. XLV), containing a suite of the frontispiece and the 12 illustrations, i.e. 13 plates, on Japon nacré paper.
