I am honored to have my letters considered as a passport to the Liberator. My information on Mr. Martin's character leads me to believe that he will make himself worthy of your care"... [This same September 7, 1825 marked the end of La Fayette's triumphal tour of America, which began in the summer of 1824. On this day, he received the official farewell of the American president and his ministers].
