Most letters are written from Paris (20 Avenue d'Antin, then 12 Rue de Phalsbourg), two from Prangins (Vaud), one from Trouville and one from Rome.

1882. He worries about his son Louis's health. He reduced his stable and gave a mare to his sister.
1883. He instructs his steward to deliver a painting to Mathilde's envoy. Louis leaves for Italy. He will take his own portrait to Prangins. He visited the Queen of Portugal with Louis.
1884. Wishes for Mathilde's birthday. He is about to leave for the
Pyrenees.
1885. He is in Trouville, racing along the Normandy coast: "I'm saving
Dieppe for the bouquet"... 1886. Louis leaves for America. "My situation is often very painful and always very difficult". His wife Clotilde went to
Monza: "she must have returned to Moncalieri".
1887. "Louis's case [his integration into the Italian army] is settled, I expect the decree tomorrow or the day after. He will go to Verona for two or three days to prepare his installation, lodgings, horses, etc.".
