I have everything to learn about Magendie's discovery.
Magendie discovered this sensitivity in 1839. [...]
In 1847, [...] he read a long note to the Académie in which he maintained and again proved the existence of this sensitivity.
He said that his discovery had been contested, even by the Academy, twice, in commission reports.
Bernard showed that special conditions were required for the manifestation of Magendie's discovery. This is in the above memoir of 1847."
