SAND George (1804-1876).
L.A.S. "George Sand", August 12, 1864, [to Dr. Oscar RÉVEIL]| 2 1/2 pages in-8.
Appeal to the indulgence of an examiner.
"I do not know whether my name is friendly to you, and you may think me proud to address you without being particularly known to you. You will excuse my approach if you learn that it is dictated by friendship. I would like to recommend to your indulgence as an examiner, Antoine Ludre-Gabillaud, a young medical student whose father is one of my best friends. The young man is hard-working and intelligent, but you know how easy it is to get confused, and how a word or a look of encouragement can revive a timid spirit. Let yourselves be touched by my prayer, whatever your feelings for me, for this prayer is one of the good and just things that can be asked of an elevated and therefore generous spirit"...
