Count Luigi PIANCIANI (1810-1890) was an Italian patriot| after taking part in the defense of Venice as a colonel, he had to go into exile| he settled in Jersey, and was part of the circle of outlaws around Victor Hugo| administrator of the republican newspaper L'Homme, he was expelled from France.
L'Homme, he was expelled in October 1855 after publishing an address to Queen Victoria| Hugo protested against this expulsion, but soon had to leave the island too. Later, Pianciani fought alongside Garibaldi in the War of Independence and was one of Rome's first mayors].
