ELUARD Paul (1895-1952).
L.A.S. "Paul Eluard", [Davos] January 30, 1935, to René CHAR| 1 page in-4.
Letter written from the Davos sanatorium.
[Eluard writes from the sanatorium in Davos, Switzerland, where he joined René Crevel on December 22, 1934, and where he will remain until mid-March 1935, to the best man at his wedding to Nusch (August 21 of the previous year), his dearest friend| he hopes to bring Nusch to him, and the material obstacles to this project are the subject of his letter to his friend]. "Your letter gave me great pleasure. If we don't want drama, we should never mix 'practical' life with friendship. Love itself so rarely triumphs. Letters like yours, here, are balms. I feel very weak, I'm lying down, with many miseries, carefully renewed at the moment.
I thank you for what you promise me for Nusch. If you can do it right away, please do. It's urgent, urgent!
NO MATTER HOW LITTLE, but immediately, on receipt of my letter. The main thing is for Nusch to reach the time when my mother will send her here, in 8 days' time"... He has sent her his book and is looking forward to Char's two books...
