"By the time you receive my letter, Casimir (barring a surprise) will be at the head of our beautiful country [Jean CASIMIR-PÉRIER was elected President of the Republic on June 27]. - It's all so inane, and even the joiveau can't escape the frogs' vengeance. I'd like a change of scenery when I get back from Rouen
Rouen, that is to say in 8 or 10 days, I think I'll come and share your games and your laughter. [Maurice] Guibert and the dog will be part of the party. I'm purging the latter conscientiously, as he's a bit sick.
The fresh air will help him recover. My collaborators [on the
Yvette Guilbert] are bothering me and I don't know how to activate them. My own work has been finished for a month and a half, and they're babbling. - I've got a wisdom tooth coming in and it's making my head a bit soggy. I take Tommy for walks as much as possible, he's the dog. Paul's son [Pascal] has measles and Joseph [Pascal] is naturally in the breach, perhaps with the idea that he's the wood from which Presidents are made. It's hot and it stinks"...
