About the Salons.
He had hoped to come to Paris "for the opening of the Salon d'Automne", but work prevents him from doing so. "I confess frankly that I have no taste for salons| large aggregations of paintings, even if they are all masterpieces, do not allow one to judge the painting and are rather harmful. Exhibitions restricted to a few artists are perfect and serve a purpose, so I'm not at all keen to get involved. However, when I come to Paris, I'll see Durand-Ruel, and if he's willing, I'll see him.
Ruel and if he's willing to show something, I'd like nothing better, even though he showed everything he has of mine, Renoir's and others in London"...
