Gold dead-beat seconds watch with duplex escapement

The mechanism of this watch recalls the work of the famous watchmaker Jean-Moïse Pouzait (1743-1793), nicknamed "the father of the dead-beat second". In 1776, this watchmaker submitted to the Société des Arts de Genève a memoir based on the principles of a watch using an "independent deadbeat second". Thanks to this pioneering invention at the end of the 18th century, many watchmakers followed the example of Moïse Pouzait's work, such as our example with a slow-running duplex escapement.
