"Virginie Demont-Breton and Hélène Bertaux's efforts in favor of women's entry to the École des Beaux-Arts were not in vain, culminating in 1897 in the possibility for women to take painting and sculpture classes, before obtaining a special class in 1900 and being able to compete for the Prix de Rome in 1903."
