In-folio, [3] f., 296 p., pl., olive-green morocco, spine with 4 raised bands, author, title and date gilt, gilt fillet on the nerves, boxes and boards framed with a set of angular fillets, dots and finials, all gilt, counterpanes edged in morocco and decorated with the same, double gilt fillet on spines and headpieces, double moiré satin and marbled paper endpapers, untrimmed, gilt head, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine preserved [Meunier] (spine faded, small rubbing on two corners | transfers opposite plates.).
Edition illustrated with four color plates, including a frontispiece, copper-engraved by Louis Mortier after compositions by Georges Rochegrosse. The text is adorned on each page with a large, repeated color decoration, consisting of an arch decorated with antique motifs, wood-engraved by Beltrand after the same artist.
Limited edition of 171 numbered copies: one of 150 on Van Gelder tinted wove paper (no. 122).
