Large in-8, [2] f., XII-414 p., [2] f., green bronze morocco, 5-rib spine adorned with 2 gilt fillets, author, title, place and date gilt, bindings and boards edged with fillets and decorated with large rocaille irons, all gilt, gilt fillet on the edges, guilloche corners and headpieces, inner lace, gilt edges on witnesses, upper cover preserved [Chambolle- Duru] (spine faded, marginal halo at corner of pp. 122-127, transfers to v° of some illustrations).
Edition illustrated with 40 figures engraved in color by Eugène Decisy after watercolors by Charles Léandre, i.e. 12 plates and 28 vignettes.
Limited edition of 300 copies: one of 200 on Arches vellum (no. 178) including the definitive state of the illustrations, and the prospectus containing a plate in 4 states showing the decomposition of the colors.
