In-folio, light gray box, smooth spine, the author's name composed on the spine of 5 raised letters in synthetic material in a hue evoking bronze, each plate decorated with a relief composed of several pieces of worked leather and synthetic material, whose hues from gray to ochre and appearance evoke metal and stone, pearl gray suede lining and endpapers, half-box folder with matching bands lined with fawn suede, case [G. Leroux] (case rubbed and split).
First edition of this work composed entirely by the painter Roberto Matta. He wrote the text, which he illustrated with 22 original etchings and aquatints in color (except for 4 vignettes in black), including 10 full-page and 3 double-page illustrations.
Edition of 125 copies: one of the top 20 on Japon nacré paper (no. 7), with 16 signed etchings, and containing a suite of 16 color plates on Japon nacré paper, all signed. Enriched with 12 sheets of proofs on strong wove paper.
Exceptional original binding signed by Georges Leroux, dated 1963.
