Bouvard et Pécuchet. Paris, A. [&|] F. Ferroud, 1928. In-4, 320 p., large in-8, later brown half-maroquin, 5-ribbed spine, gilt author and title, gilt head, cover and spine preserved (spine very slightly faded).
Edition illustrated with numerous compositions by the painter Auguste Leroux (1871-1954): a wood-engraved frontispiece by Georges Beltrand, 21 plates and 10 page-head vignettes engraved in etching by E. Decisy, 50 wood-engraved compositions in the text by Gusman, 40 of which are mid-page or at the bottom of the page, and 10 culs-de-lampe. The text is adorned with ten color-enhanced lettrines by Madeleine Leroux.
Limited edition of 600 numbered copies: one of 100 on japon impérial (n°146, 3rd paper) containing the frontispiece in two states, one in color without the line, two states of the etchings, one with remarks, and the separate woodcut on vellum.
