In-8, cream morocco, smooth spine with gilded author's and illustrator's names and title, rich continuous Arabic-inspired mosaic decoration on boards and spine, with bronze morocco star patches, sand morocco geometric patches enhanced with gilded f loons, ochre suede linings, anise suede endpapers, gilded edges, covers and spine preserved, green half-maroquin folder, green half-maroquin striped binding. (spine very slightly faded, light localized rubbing to spine ends, spine of folder unstained, small rubbing to slipcase).
Splendid work illustrated with numerous ornaments and frames in color and 50 color compositions by painter Étienne Dinet (1861-1929), 25 of which are full-page.
Limited edition of 450 copies: one of the top 15 on japon mince (no. 5), containing an original signed watercolor by the artist, and two suites on japon mince of the illustrations, one in black and the other in color.
Enriched with an oriental drawing painted in gold on a vellum leaf bound at the beginning of the volume.
Splendid original binding signed by Henri Mercher and dated 1959.
