Signed autograph letters from General de Gaulle, to his "dear nephew, Jacques Philippe Vendroux, in memory of a battle in which he valiantly took part [...], October 23, 1954" (vol. 1)| to the same, "affectionately, 29-6-56" (vol. 2)| vol. 3 bears only the General's signature with the date 20-1-60.
A senior civil servant, Jacques-Philippe Vendroux (1925-2002) was deputy for Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon from 1967 to 1973. On July 20, 1967, General de Gaulle paid an official visit to Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, the first French territory to join the Free French Forces in December 1941.
