PASTEUR Louis (1822-1895).
L.A.S. "L. Pasteur", [Paris March 23, 1883], to Jean-Aimé BOURREL| 1 page in-12 on blue paper, address on verso (Telegram).
Concerning his rabies research, to the veterinarian who supplied him with rabid dogs. "I am most obliged to you for your proposal, although I am far from having completed my research and as a result of an application. I have reluctantly accepted a few dogs for vaccination. I'm willing to wait: but in any case, it's in my best interest to keep all my Villeneuve-l'Étang dogs in good health, since they'll be used to judge the duration of immunity. There are only dogs in Villeneuve that are resistant to rabies. I'll come to an agreement with you. I'm going to get the few remaining dogs out of the Montmartre kennel. That's where the last 8 must have caught scabies"...
