Following the almost immediate success of the Bugatti Type 35 at the Lyon Grand Prix, Ettore Bugatti produced a multitude of versions of his Grand Prix model: 8-cylinder ‘civil’ engine, with compressor, double overhead camshafts, 4-cylinder, etc...
In June 1927, the Type 37A appeared, with a 1,496 cc engine fitted with a compressor (as on the Type 35 B and C), boosting power to 90 hp, with a top speed of 175 km/h| enough to shine in the highly competitive 1500 class!
The car that illustrates these pages is a beautifully crafted rebuild, made from parts of English and European origin| very well made, it is also fitted with the legendary cast aluminium wheels that are characteristic of the Molsheim firm.
The car, which was rebuilt in the 2000s, has seen very little use since then, so it will need to be given a thorough overhaul before it can be used again. Please note that this reconstruction has never been registered and has no chassis number.
This car is aimed at any enthusiast wishing to realise the Bugatti dream, with a well-built car with good parts, easy to use with its 4-cylinder engine, yet very quick thanks to its supercharger: an ideal car to take the start of the Circuit des Remparts d’Angoulême or Le Mans Classic 2025 for example!
