LaSalle Series 50 Cabriolet – 1936

Luxembourg registration title
Sold without contrôle technique

Intended to fill the gap between Buick and Cadillac in the General Motors range, the LaSalle brand was created in 1927: more dynamic and sporty than Cadillacs, they were sold in the same networks and powered by Cadillac engines | bodies were either standard or custom-built, notably by Fleetwood, Le Baron and Fisher
Introduced in 1934, the Series 50 was available as a sedan, coupé or cabriolet : initially powered by Cadillac V8 engines, from 1935 it received an Oldsmobile 4.1-liter in-line 8-cylinder engine developing 105 hp| it is mated to a 3-speed manual gearbox.
Our Fisher-bodied example is a cabriolet coupé
This cabriolet would have been sold new in 1936 to a Luxembourg industrialist, before being discovered by Mr. E. in 2003, and is therefore believed to be second-hand| having been immobilized for many years, it was then presented as a basis for restoration.
An initial campaign of work was carried out between 2003 and 2005, with a view to participating in the famous Beijing - Paris rally in 2007: the car was repainted, made more reliable and modified to cope with this formidable test for machines, these included new shock absorbers, a new steering linkage, a large-volume fuel tank, under-chassis sheet metal, bucket seats and various on-board instruments. After travelling through Asia and Europe, it will finally reach the Place Vendôme.
The car underwent a new restoration in the early 2010s: the body was completely repainted and now features a two-tone red and burgundy hue, the interior was restored at the end of 2012, with a complete overhaul of the seats, which, like the doors, are covered in tan leather, the carpets and soft top were also restored| approximately 10 years later, the car is still in very good condition.
The engine bay also looks good, and the block has been repainted, probably at the same time as the bodywork| having done very little driving in recent years, a simple restart of the mechanics will be required.
