The R107 generation of SLs was constantly renewed, and along with the presence of 8-cylinder versions, regular attention was paid to oil-related economic issues and to safety standards, which became increasingly important from that time onwards.
Our example is part of the second version of this generation, physically difficult to differentiate from the first, but which introduced, among other things, ABS (optional until 1984), an aluminium bonnet, and new options for greater comfort...
Delivered new in Germany with automatic gearbox and ABS, and in this colour of Signal Red, this example joined the collection in 2001, with the aim of taking part in the ‘Around Australia Overlander’ rally that same year| on its return from this adventure, a major cosmetic overhaul seems to have been carried out before it was stored.
The car is running, but has covered just under 2,000 km since 2002: a general overhaul of all the mechanics is therefore recommended before taking to the road again.
With such a reasonable estimate, don’t miss the chance to take this sumptuous European SL for a spin!
