Tran Le Tai studied at the Lycée français de Vientiane, then at the École des Arts appliqués de Gia Dinh - now the Faculté des Beaux-Arts de Hô Chi Minh-Ville - from which he graduated in 1958 in the painting section. His works depict landscapes of South Vietnam, his main source of inspiration.
