1919 MORGAN MAG « TT Grand Prix »
French historic registration title
In 1910, Henry Frederick Stanley - known as HFS - Morgan created his own brand to market a strange 3-wheeled machine of his own design and, to promote it, he soon entered it in races | for the 1914 Tourist Trophy, he prepared a stripped-down racing version equipped with an incredible MAG (Motosacoche Acacias Genève) factory 1,100 cc 8-valve racing engine, but the Tourist Trophy did not take place because of the outbreak of war
HFS Morgan re-released its diabolical engine after the Armistice, and this high-performance racing engine (only a few units produced in the end) was found in various Morgan-branded competition machines, as well as in Darmont 3-wheelers in France, including the famous single-seater
One engine was recovered by Henri Burnat, alias Pierpont, driver and agent for the Darmont brand, whose son, Guy, was one of the pioneers of the collection in France | this extremely rare engine, of which only 2 are thought to remain in working order (the other, powering a motorbike), was reassembled on a Darmont in the 1960s
Broken during a race at Montlhéry, it was given to another pioneer, Léonce Maldès, who kept it on the shelf for several decades, before his grandson had it rebuilt (by the highly professional Nicolas Bouriane, of Revival Engineering), and fitted to a 1919 Morgan chassis (no. 41538), with a new body inspired by the personal Darmont of HFS Darmont
If you’re looking for a 3-wheeler with devilish performance, unique looks and a legendary engine, don’t let your chance go by| success and thrills guaranteed!
