2006 MG ZS 180
° French registration title

In May 2000, BMW sold the MG Rover group to the ‘Phoenix’ consortium for a symbolic £10| the decision was taken to launch an MG-badged sports range based on the Rover 25, 45 and 75. The styling office was entrusted to Peter Stevens, and the range was to appeal to young, dynamic British executives, as well as making them dream in competition with the X Power program
The model presented here is the MG ZS 180, based on the Rover 45 from which it takes its platform| in Ignition Blue with a semi-leather and blue cloth interior, our Mk2, equipped with the 177 bhp KV6 engine, was produced in around 6,800 units
The story of this car is quite astonishing: when the end of the marque came at the end of 2005, the Longbridge factory assembled the last cars on the assembly line by hand using selected workers| this is one of them and, according to historians, the last MG ZS to be made and most certainly one of the last MGs of the Longbridge era
With an original mileage of around 36,000 km, the overall condition is excellent, the original paintwork has all its lustre and the interior still smells like new| the tyres are the original ones dated November 2005 (to be replaced for safe driving!)| the timing belts were replaced recently as a precaution
This year, 2024, we are celebrating the centenary of the MG brand and this model was exhibited at the Rétromobile show on the Youngtimers magazine stand for the occasion| it is a car to discover or rediscover, with performance and roadholding that are still amazing today and, above all, a piece of history from one of the greatest British brands.
