In the early 1980s, Volkswagen and the Belgian RAS Sport team worked together to prepare Golf GTIs for the European Touring Car Championship
A total of 25 Golf GTIs were produced, and our car is one of 15 that belonged to the RAS team| these cars won prestigious races such as the 24 Hours of Spa
After taking part in this championship for 2 years, our Golf was sold to Spanish driver Luis Miguel Arias, who went on to win the Spanish Touring Championship in 1986 and 1987
After a few years away from competition, it reappeared in 2010 and took part in a number of hill-climb races in Spain| its current owner bought it 8 years ago
The car has since been repainted in the colours of the RAS team and has taken part in a number of test and demonstration runs| this car, carefully developed and prepared at the time, is a wonderful testimony to this emblematic championship of the 1980s
