= Statuette in gilded copper alloy and hardstone inlay depicting
Sita Tara, seated in vajrasana on a double lotiform base, her right hand in refuge mudra and her left hand in varada mudra holding a lotus stem. She is dressed in a fine, chiseled dhoti, adorned with numerous jewels, her hair tied into a high bun and her head crowned with a five-flowered crown. The base is sealed with an engraved double vajra.

NOTE
Tara (literally "The Liberator") is, along with
Avalokiteshvara, Tibet's most popular deity.
Tibet. She is a female bodhisattva, the country's tutelary deity and embodiment of compassion, the "mother" who protects from all dangers and difficulties of life. She was born of Avalokiteshvara's tears at the suffering of beings trapped in the cycle of reincarnation.
Sita Tara ("White Tara") is one of the 21 known Tara forms. She symbolizes long life and compassion.
