= Statuette in gilded copper alloy depicting the bodhisattva Amitayus seated in vajrasana on a double lotiform base, hands in dhyana mudra, adorned with numerous jewels, hair tied into a high bun, head crowned with a five-flowered crown, round face, small mouth, half-closed eyes stretched out. Unsealed base.

Amitayus ("Infinite Longevity") is the adorned aspect of the jina Amithaba ("Infinite Radiance"), Buddha of the West. He is prayed to to ensure a long life, so as to accumulate numerous merits, guaranteeing a better reincarnation.
The deity is depicted in meditation, holding the vase of immortality liquor. Very popular in China and Mongolia, effigies of Amitayus were offered on birthdays at the Qing court.
