"Citizen Consul Cambaceres, your title will change| your functions and my confidence remain the same ones. In the high dignity of arch-chancellor of the Empire, with which you are going to be covered, you will show, as you did in that of Consul, the wisdom of your councils and these distinguished talents which acquired you a share so important in all that I can have made of good. I do not have therefore to wish from you that the continuation of the same feelings for the State and for me ".
