CAMBACÉRÈS| the letters are written by Méneval| 1 page in-4 each, vignettes engraved with the name of Bonaparte I Consul of the Republic. [108, 109, 110]
Three letters from Bruges.
22 messidor. He arrives in Bruges... "We need masts 1 and hemp. These are not sentences which will give us some. If one proposes equivalents to the proposals of the Minister of the Navy [Decrès], good luck| otherwise, I will adopt the latter. I therefore await with great impatience the draft decrees of the Council of State.
He adds in his hand: "Affectionate greeting".
24 messidor. "I was yesterday in Flushing, Citizen Consul. I visited the island of Cadsand and the island of Walcheren. The weather was very beautiful on the way out and on the way back| I made the crossing in one hour. I returned to Bruges at two o'clock in the morning. He agrees to "keep some carpenters for the construction of boats for the supply of Paris".
He intends to leave for Ghent the next day.
25 messidor. "I receive, Citizen Consul, your letter of the 23rd, at the moment when I leave for Ghent, where I will probably remain three days. I attended yesterday a concert that the city of Bruges gave me". He saw his brother
