RARE SQUELETTE CLOCK WITH COMPLICATIONS by Lepaute in Paris, main dial giving the time in roman numerals, minutes and seconds beaten. Three lower dials detailing: the sign of the zodiac, the month of the year and the precise day of the week.
Two external polished brass counterweights.
Rear balance with regulation.
Late 18th century, early 19th century.

The Lepaute are a family of Watchmakers of the King represented initially by two brothers: Jean André Lepaute who arrived at
Paris in 1740 and Jean-Baptiste Lepaute arrived in 1748. They quickly perfected their skills and made a meteoric rise in the world of watchmaking. Their nephews continued this enterprise with works of great quality. It is difficult to attribute our clock by name to one of these Lepaute.
