ALCOVE CARTEL in finely chased and gilt bronze in the form of a rocaille, richly decorated with garlands of flowers including a rose.
White enamelled dial with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes signed Julien Le Roy, wire suspension, plate engraved Julien Le Roy in Paris.
Louis XV period.

Julien Le Roy (1686 - 1759) was a famous clockmaker of the reign of Louis XV who was received as master in 1713. In 1739 he was awarded the prestigious title of "ordinary watchmaker to the King".
His works are all of a great quality of execution, he worked in particular with Jacques
Caffieri who provided him with certain drawings and bronzes.
