MARINE OFFICER'S SABRE Model 1837. Gilded bronze and horn mounting type regulation. Oval cap with rocaille decoration and frieze of scallops. Arch of joint with decorations of scroll and acanthus leaves.
Curved quillon with a dogfish head.
Openwork top decorated with vine leaves and navy anchor. Black horn spindle.
Slightly curved blade with one edge and two gutters.
Presence of a leather tie.
Leather scabbard with three brass fittings, two rings of suspension, decorated with scallop and anchor of the Navy.
An officer's lanyard in gold wire is attached.
France, 3rd Republic period.
