Head of a snow lion in gilded copper alloy and enhanced with polychromy, represented with half-open mouth, bulging eyes surmounted by thick eyebrows, curly mane and fierce look. Base. PROVENANCE - Sale, The Kemper Collection of Himalayan Art, Christie's, Amsterdam, 11 October 1994, lot 25 - Private collection, France (acquired during the previous sale and then by descent) NOTE This work decorated the throne of a deity, probably that of the bodhisattva Manjushri, whose mount is usually a lion.
