Very fine Melayer (Iran) around 1910/1920. Quality silky wool velvet on cotton foundation. Density of about 9000 knots per dm2. Natural oxidations and wears. Field old pink abrashé (Turkish word, natural change of the wool) decorated with a large cruciform floral medallion blue night inlaid with patterns called Herati, and surrounded by two stylized arrows of hunters. Four peacock green spandrels with bulbs and floral buds surrounded by stylized bands. Six borders of which the main one is ivory with interlacing branches in twists of flowering palmettes surrounded by foliage.
