SATIE Erik (1866 - 1925)
3 L.A.S. "ES", February 7-26, 1924, to Roger DÉSORMIÈRE| each 1 page in-12, address on reverse (letter-card).
Beautiful correspondence to the young conductor, about an "Soirée de Paris" by the Count de Beaumont, for which, renouncing a revival of La Belle Excentrique, he is going to compose the ballet Mercure, while he is at odds with his former friends of the Groupe des Six.
February 7. He does not know who Mme Bériza is. "I only know three conductors: Caplet, Golschmann & Désormière... Paray ?... I don't want to know him... I am neither Poulenc, nor Auric"...
February 16. "Very happy that it is you who are leading the Beaumont "thing".
In fact, Caryathis is still the owner of the Belle Excentrique, but
Auric is perhaps wrong to reject me from this combination: I intend to write two little things in collaboration with TZARA. Yes [...] I have the right to give La Belle Excentrique as a symphonic piece, which Auric knows well but does not say"... February 26. "I am working for you: leave me, however, the time to compose what I have to do. [...] For La Belle Excentrique, do not "worry": as soon as Caryathis will be back from the South, I will have the complete material"...
Almost complete correspondence, n° MXLIX (the two others unpublished).
